Critical Care Services

In 2014, Pacific Pulmonary Medical Group became the first Pulmonary & Critical Care group to offer 24/7 in-house physician coverage of the intensive care unit at Riverside Community Hospital.

Our dedicated Critical Care Services providers are board-certified and provide services across a broad spectrum of specialties such as Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, Neuro ICU and more.

With 24/7 ICU Care, patients receive the highest level of care. This added layer of care improves patient safety and results in improved patient outcomes and shorter hospital stays.

 Interventional Pulmonology

Interventional pulmonology procedures offer the potential advantage of avoiding more invasive surgery.  Procedures for Interventional Pulmonolgy include:

  • Navigational bronchoscopy
  • Flexible bronchoscopy
  • Bronchoalveolar lavage
  • Biopsy of lung or lymph node
  • Airway stent (bronchial stent)
  • Balloon bronchoplasty
  • Rigid bronchoscopy
  • Needle Biopsy
  • Right Cardiac Catheterization
  • Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)

Pacific Pulmonary Medical Group physicians are proud to be one of the few physicians in the region that are trained to utilize EBUS (endobronchial ultrasound), a minimally invasive procedure that allows physicians to view the airways, lungs and, most importantly, biopsy lymph nodes without the need for surgery – no incisions at all. EBUS is used to aid physicians in the diagnosis of lung cancer, infections, and other diseases causing enlarged lymph nodes in the chest. Additionally, EBUS  makes a dramatic difference in treatment planning and improves patient outcomes by enabling treating physicians to determine the stage of cancer quickly and accurately.  Furthermore, it allows for faster treatment time and can be managed on an outpatient basis.

In the past, patients had to travel to other facilities to receive this procedure.  Now, our patients are scheduled to have the outpatient procedure done locally at Riverside Community Hospital and Hoag Hospital in Irvine.
